Ideal agencies and models: myth or reality?

Considering that standards and types have been changing in modelling recently, the concept of “Ideality” is becoming blurred. Does it exist at all and most importantly – Is this concept relevant today? We interviewed models and mother agencies on the topic of how they imagine “Ideality”.

 

The ideal a foreign agency

– Good feedback on public pages of validated mother agencies. Active social networks.

– A clear contract without pitfalls. If there are many questions there should be an operational, business-like dialogue and acceptance of a compromise.

– Fast documentation with an invitation, appropriate tickets with a minimum of transfers and waiting.

– To be met at the airport, nice clean apartments, acceptable neighbours, photos not on the day of arrival but in a day or two in order that the model gets in shape after flights.

– Provide a sufficient number of castings for work, the opportunity to create magazines or high-quality photos in the book.

– Friendly communication with models, assistance in everyday problems (rude models or those who interfere with others and productive work should be reprimanded).

– An adequate solution to incoming problems with the mother agencies directly, not with the model.

– If there is no work, send the model home and not blame the model that she/he has gained pounds, lost weight or poses poorly, if there are no objective reasons for this.

– Operational commission for the mac (mother agency commission) and the model’s fee.

The ideal mother agency

The mother agency should also be chosen carefully. What qualities, according to models and foreign agencies, should it have?

– A clear, honest contract, a good reputation, prompt communication.

– Friendly, polite, but businesslike communication.

– Communication with parents, explaining all the questions that they have.

– After the interview, the mother agency should not offer to make a book for a large amount of money or to study at the model school straight away. If they are really interested in you, the first tests, snaps are made at the expense of the mother agency. Often these expenses are officially registered and when the model starts working the invested funds are returned.

— The mother agency should not promise Paris and New York tomorrow. It should speak honestly about the model’s prospects. It should give priority to studying. However, if there are good offers among the academic year the models should try to adjust.

– Discussions of all documents and foreign contracts, assistance in visa matters, assistance in finding appropriate tickets, support in flights and throughout the contract, advice on style, appearance.

– The ideal mother agency checks the reputation of the receiving agency, monitors the comfortable stay of the model who is on the contract, protects the rights of the model, but also reminds her of her duties.

The ideal model

– Monitors the figure, skin, health, is familiar with English, her/his documents are always in order.

– Honesty with the mother agency in any business matters.

– No to clubs, tanning and hangouts.

– On style, a good look at castings, politeness, punctuality, positivity.

– Quick response to travel difficulties (airports, visas, customs).

– Keeping the apartment clean and tidy, respect for other models who are living in the apartment.

– Compliance with the terms of the contract, especially regarding external data.

– Always in touch with the mother agency, has a good relationship with the receiving agency.

– Adequately conducts its social networks without alcohol, cigarettes and compromising photos.

– Understands that modelling is a job, not entertainment.

– Adequately perceives his/ her appearance, never arrogant.
