I met Stanislav’s (@stanislavsenchuk) works a year ago at a lecture on promoting an illustrator. I went to his account and was pleasantly surprised as to how stylish, creative and dynamic everything is. The author is 23 years old, but he already successfully worked with large companies: Puma, Lay’s, Nudestix, Pepsi. His work has been published by British Vogue, Marc Jacobs, Polish ELLE, Nina Ricci, Vogue Portugal and Moschino.
Where did you learn to draw?
Nowhere. As a child, I attended private painting lessons several times, but I realised that such an academic approach was not for me. I always wanted to learn more about colour, different shapes and shadows, and not just shading a white sheet. At the age of 15, I started working for an online publication that covered the latest news in the fashion industry. I conducted social networks, wrote articles about the latest collections and stylised the shooting. Two years later, I realised that illustration is my passion. At first I drew on the table but then I thought that people may be interested in it. Since 2018 I have been cooperating with the MAD Illustrators agency and during this time we have managed to create many interesting projects.
Why fashion illustration?
I started to get involved in the fashion industry a long time ago. I always brought fashion magazines from overseas trips which are still difficult to get here. I liked reading interviews with the stars in the original and looking at bright advertising footage.
Do you travel often? Which city inspires the most?
The last year and a half, not as often as we would like – due to the circumstances. A month and a half ago I moved to Warsaw, entered the PJATK Academy and I am studying Japanese. I really want to discover Asia in the near future! In the meantime, my favourite city was and is Copenhagen.
What has made you happy with fashion lately?
The fact that fashion is increasingly collaborating with illustrators. So many cool projects have come out in the last few months alone! One of my favourites is the promo for the new Gucci fragrance Flora Gorgeous Gardenia, featuring Miley Cyrus. The campaign is drawn in anime style – be sure to check it out!
I’ve seen you have very stylish cartoon-style portraits. Can they be ordered?
Yes, you can write to me by mail and discuss everything.
I also really liked the clothes with your illustrations – who was this collaboration with?
Together with the Ukrainian brand Omelya Atelier, we have created a collection of T-shirt dresses. Now I’m working on a new collection for the NN Wearable brand. I can’t wait to share the result!
On New Year’s Eve, we ask you to share some touching, funny stories. Do you have such?
When I was in Miami, I was unexpectedly written to by photographer Danny Cardoso, who I really like, and he invited me to meet him in his studio. A week later in New York, I accidentally ran into my favourite model, Marian Yonkman, I complimented her on a large bunch of balloons in her hand. I found out later that it was her birthday).
