What to wear to a casting?

Success at a casting depends on many factors: portfolio, professional skills, and communication skills. Appearance plays an important role, so you should carefully think through your image. The classic option is a tight-fitting black skirt, slightly above the knee, or shorts combined with a black top and high-heeled shoes. Choose clothes that highlight the advantages of your figure, avoiding bright colours. Black, grey or brown shades are the best. Clothes should be monochromatic, without any patterns, prints, decorative elements, so as not to distract attention from your appearance. Forget about cocktail dresses, even if they suit you very well. Your task is to show off your figure, not to dress up. Baggy clothes are also not suitable. If it is cold outside, provide suitable outerwear and change on the spot.

Agencies often provide recommendations on the dress code, taking into account the wishes of the client. Castings for famous fashion houses such as Dior or Gucci will most likely require a total black look: a black tight dress or skirt with a top. Large companies pay special attention to the appearance of the models. Sports brands may ask to come in jeans and a T-shirt or offer their own clothes. For jewellery castings, a black dress is the best option so that the jewellery looks impressive. The difficulty is that there may be several castings of different themes during the day. Therefore, it is important to find a universal option.

Always take high-heeled shoes with you, even if you came in flat shoes. You should not change your shoes in front of the client – do it in a secluded place. It is important that the shoes are professional, that they are the shoes which you wear on the catwalk, and not the ones you walk on the street with.
And, of course, do not forget about clean hair, light makeup and a neat manicure / pedicure.
