On the eve of the New Year, we decided to collect a collection of interesting, touching, funny stories from models from all over the world. Here are some of them.
Julia, Latvia:
“Foreign languages are easy for me. Literally in six months I also learned Turkish working on a contract. At the auditions, I understood everything the clients and the film crew were talking about me but I was in no hurry to give myself away. At the same time, clients did not always think about ethics believing that the model does not know their language. Once on leaving work, I asked them in the local language to continue to be more attentive to assessments and statements because the models can understand their language. You should have seen their faces!”
Katya, Russia:
“Once in Bangkok, the Greyhound fashion house stylised the stage at the show to match Russian realities. It was snowing, the models were wearing earflaps, and the music was a Katyusha remix. Before the start of the rehearsal, the director gave instructions to the participants in the fashion show, “Imagine that you are cold and the snow is setting you up for philosophical thoughts.” The models, among whom were mostly guys from Brazil, were confused as after all, they had never seen snow in their lives. I had to tell them what cold is.”
Maria, Spain:
“Customers from Japan at the casting wrapped models in wide scarves and checked whether they could navigate the catwalk and not fall. And at another casting as in the fairy tale about Cinderella they tried on shoes. They came up and could walk and they took them to the show. ”
Elizabeth, UK:
“At the fashion show of designer Betsy Jones, she asked to play on the catwalk, “Send air kisses, jump, do what you want!” In all this madness, every model came out with a Dalmatian. After work, she gave each model a cheque for $2,000 so that we could buy the outfits in her boutique. It was so cute! ”
Natalia, Russia:
“I was very surprised when Giorgio Armani helped the models do their own makeup and directed the show. I thought we would only see him at the final release. And at the Tommy Hilfiger show in America, more than two hundred models worked, and I have not seen so many famous personalities in the hall anywhere! You could see Madonna or Uma Thurman right from the catwalk.”
Jade, USA:
“This was my first trip and I had little experience. I did not go through any of the castings for the shows and was very upset. My room mates had a lot of work on the show and I asked them to help me with the fashion show. They taught me at midnight and in the morning I had my first casting for the show. ”
Kara, Brazil:
“It was fashion week in Malaysia and a friend sends me an SMS, “Jimmy Choo himself is in our dressing room!” I ran to her and ask, “Where?” “He is in front of you. Do not knock him down!” Choo turned out to be very small in stature and he did not stand out amongst the assistants and makeup artists. Just in case, I said “Hello!” everyone in the dressing room and went out – I was embarrassed to ask him for a selfie. ”
