Everyday modelling agencies receive emails from new people who want to try their hand in modelling. As a rule, if agencies are interested, they will respond, less often they will reply politely: “Thank you, you are not suitable for us.”
Success also depends on how well the letter is written. Sometimes even with good external data, but with inadequate communication, agencies try not to get involved. We will explore exactly what needs to be specified in the letter from the directors of the mother agencies.
Julia Temporiti, Velvet Management:
— It is sufficient for me to know the name, age, approximate parameters and the city of residence of the future model. Also a few photos: portraits and full-length (without filters, without processing). Not necessarily in a swimsuit or underwear, you can wear tight clothes that do not distort the proportions of the figure – full face, profile.
A typical agent, in my opinion, just needs a few seconds to understand whether he wants to work with new faces or not. There are some nuances, compromises, but usually everything is solved quickly enough. If the face is interesting, then the parameters, braces, etc. are already being discussed. Individuals without experience and knowledge of English are accepted.
The main thing I look at is the face. A lot of emails arrive from Africa and Asia, but I try not to consider those with whom it is impossible to meet. It is important for me to know what a person is like in communication, how adequate.
Katerina Mironova, Index Models Scouting Center:
— For me, the following email would be ideal:
“Hello!
My name is Maria, I am 18 years old (05.04.2005). My height is 175 cm, measurements are 80-60-91, shoe size is 39.
I live in Yekaterinburg, here is my phone number and Instagram account.”
You also need to attach a couple of photos without makeup, without filters in natural light. Portrait and full-length. Not necessarily in a swimsuit, but in tight clothes.
If I like the model, I ask a few more questions: experience, English, tattoo, the presence of a passport – and an offer to call them.
I always meet with models in person, create snaps and tests for them, if necessary, collect a book. I had an unpleasant experience of sending models by an online acquaintance. I don’t do it anymore.
